Forever one of our favorite photos. After being forced to take a bath, here is Baxter, sulking by himself in his crate.

#FirstWorldDogProblems maybe?

Thanks for the photo, Amanda!

It’s that time again!  To quote our good friend, Rebecca Black: “We so excited for the weekend.”  We might not actually be friends with Rebecca Black, but we do know of two very special and great events for you and your dog this weekend in our lovely city.

ASPCA Mobile Adoption Van
If you and your dog are looking for a new furry friend, or you know of someone who is, why not stop by the ASPCA Mobile Adoption Van at any of these locations this Friday or Saturday:

  • Friday, August 3, 4-7 pm: Petland Discounts, W 23rd St & 8th Ave, New York, NY
  • Saturday, August 4, 1-5 pm: Pet Health Store (indoor event), 440 Amsterdam Avenue New York, NY

For more information, check out the ASPCA website.

Central Park Bagel Bark
This is an event that we are actually very much excited about and we think your dog will be too!  On Saturday, get you and your dog up to Great Hill in Central Park (at W 107th Street) for bagels, pastries, and coffee with other dog owners and lovers. For more information about this monthly (and free!) event, check out Central Park Paws.

Whatever you and your dog decide on this weekend, keep it classy and cool and don’t forget about our summer safety tips for keeping your dog safe in these last weeks of summer.  From all of us at Union Square Dog Walker, happy Friday!

Rencin and Blue, just hanging out in Washington Square Park.

Two best friends, just living the dream.

(Big thanks to our awesome manager Amanda for this picture!)

Happy August 🙂

The photo below was found on Tumblr and also on Facebook.  It is a picture of a veteran dog who is at the grave of his owner who was killed in combat.

The love and loyalty that dogs feel towards their owners is something truly incredible, and while some may acknowledge its presence, this connection and bond is arguably best understood by anyone who has ever owned any kind of pet.  Just as dogs are lucky to have owners who love and care for them, owners are very lucky to have a best friend who will remain loyal and loving through anything.

For more information, click on the photo, or go to the Facebook page for the memory of Sgt. Adam Cann.

And thank you to all of our soldiers (both human and canine) for the sacrifices you have made and all that you continue to do for us.

Another week has passed and if you can believe it, another month has gone by!  It’s the last weekend of July and it’s going to be a good one.  There’s a chance of storms this weekend but if you get a chance to sneak outside, enjoy it!

Bushwick Block Party
Saturday, at 12 p.m., get you and your pup over to Brooklyn for the Bushwick Block Party.  This annual event will feature a ton of live music, delicious food, and “Water World.”  It’s definitely going to be a great event worth checking out!  For more information, check out the website or Facebook event page.

Harlem Week
This event, celebrating Harlem for a whole week, kicks off this weekend.  On Saturday and/or Sunday, head on over to E. 104th Street (between Lexington and Park) to enjoy music, delicious food, artwork, and fun events for the whole family (including dogs, we decided).  For more information on Harlem Week, or this weekend’s events specifically, check out the website.

New York City Restaurant Week
We make no guarantees about bringing your dog along with you (maybe if you dress it up?) and we think it’s funny that this event is called “Restaurant Week” because it actually lasts almost a month (July 16-August 10), but who are we to complain about great deals on delicious food?  There are a ton of restaurants participating in this around the city.  Some of them don’t do Saturdays, so that is worth checking into before you go, but otherwise?  Sounds good to us.  For more information about participating restaurans, go to the Restaurant Week website.

From all of us at Union Square Dog Walker, have a wonderful and safe weekend!

This week’s photo is of Atticus and Lily.  Two best friends just sitting in the park, getting some sun, and enjoying each other’s company.

This photo was taken by our awesome dog walker Laura.  Check out her Facebook page here!

We can’t believe it but another week has flown by and here we are in our second to last weekend of July!  Broadway Barks was a huge success; you can see photos from the event by clicking here.

This weekend, as we hopefully see a slight reprieve from the heat, like any other weekend in New York, there is a ton going on in the city.  Here’s some of the things we’ve scoped out for you and your dog to enjoy this weekend in New York.

Bronx Pride 2012
Despite the fact that the Bronx Community Pride Center closed fairly recently, this event will still be taking place!  On Saturday, from 12 to 6 p.m. in Crotona Park  in–you guessed it!–the Bronx, bring your dog for live music and discussions about all things Pride-related.  For more information, check out the Facebook event page.

Sand Sculpting Contest and Unity Day
Head on over to another one of the lovely boroughs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday for a ridiculous display of sand castles, live entertainment, and all the fun that Coney Island has to offer.  For more information, check out the website of the sponsoring nonprofit, Astella Development Corporation.  And when you’re done, grab you and your four-legged friend a hotdog!

Tompkins Square Greenmarket
Every Sunday, in the amazing East Village, there’s a market including fresh produce, baked goods, eggs, honey, milk, and other miscellaneous green items.  Pay a visit to the Tompkins Square Greenmarket between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and when you’re done, take your dog to the dog run on the other side of the park!  For more information on the market, check out the GrowNYC website.

From all of us at USDW, have a wonderful and safe weekend.  And get out and enjoy what’s left of summer while you still can!
